St Tropez In Shower Gradual Tan Review

A couple of weeks ago I was perusing the Daily Mail side bar of shame on my lunch break and an article caught my eye for the next big thing in fake tanning technology: The St Tropez in shower gradual tanner. As a complete tanaholic I was intrigued to say the least and ordered myself a bottle from here straightaway.

The package arrived a few days later and after a particularly sweaty gym session I skipped home excited to give it a try. Once in the shower I gave myself a good scrub with my usual shower gel then switched the shower off. The product is a creamy consistency and smells lovely and fresh. I rubbed it all over making sure that I covered EVERYWHERE! I even put it on my face. A word of warning, do not get this stuff in your eyes. It stings like a biatch!

After that I wasn't really sure what to do so I gingerly stepped out of the shower making sure not to touch anything and set the clock on my phone for 3 minutes. In case you were wondering, during this time I played a game on my phone but other useful things you could do are brush your teeth, apply a hair mask, dance to some music... anything you like really! I have to say though, naked and soaking wet covered in fake tan for 3 minutes in winter would not be pleasant!

Once the 3 minutes were up I hopped back into the shower then carefully washed the tanner off with just warm water. You need to make sure that it has been washed off everywhere otherwise you may end up streaky! I carefully patted myself dry then was free to get dressed straight away.

I felt like nothing had happened as normally with fake tan you can sort of feel it on your skin. My skin just felt nice and moisturised! After around an hour I began to notice that telltale biscuit smell and knew something was happening!. I went to bed then woke up in the morning excited to see the results... aaand I didn't see much. Not to blow my own trumpet but I had obviously applied it well as I could see no streaks anywhere but I also wasn't very tanned! I know that it's meant to be a gradual tanner but I couldn't even see a hint of a tan! Anyway, you judge for yourselves, here is the results after the first day:

This product is supposed to be used 3 days in a row to achieve a golden glow so I wanted to give it a fair chance. I repeated the steps the next day and here are the results of day 2:

And I kept using it just in case. Here is day 7...

As you can see there is very little (or no) difference whatsoever. I was absolutely desperate for this product to work as it's such a fab idea BUT I was severely disappointed. This may be fine for pale girls who like a subtle golden glow but for those of you who want a good solid tan this is definitely NOT the product for you! After using this product for a week I still felt so pale that I resorted to using an instant tan before getting my legs out! For £14.50 a bottle this tan is not cheap and after using the product for a week there was not much left in the bottle. This could get very expensive if used continuously!

Verdict
 Love the idea and the way it made my skin feel. The boyfriend loved that I didn't smell like an old biscuit and there were no more orange stains on our bedsheets! I would however not buy this again unless St Tropez make a darker version.

Just Fab Review

After seeing adverts on the telly for Just Fab, I was intrigued and decided to give it a go.

Just Fab is an online service which sort of works like the beauty boxes except for accessories. You fill in a form of your likes and dislikes then each month a stylist picks out a bunch of shoes and accessories based on your questionnaire answers. You pick one and they are sent straight to your door, all for £35 a month. Below is a quote from the about section of website:

"We've combined the extravagance of a personal shopper with the flair and sophistication of a stylist whose passion lies in the pursuit of finding you the perfect accessory. As a member, our style experts will review your personal fashion sense before combing through the stylish shelves of our wardrobe. Then they'll recommend items based on your existing style. So you're getting the personalised, star treatment you deserve, without the high-end price tag"

Recently I had a huge clear-out of all the heels that I no longer wear. These days I prefer to go to nice bars rather than clubbing and sometimes wear heels for work so all the 5 inch impossible to walk in shoes sadly had to go! I checked the box for mid-height heels and went for neutral colours.

The next day I was sent my options and I fell in love with the 'Malone' cut out boots. The heel is the perfect height and I loved the fringing which was a bit of a nod to the 70's trend which is huge this summer. I also had a party in a couple of weeks that these would be perfect for so I ordered them and was told that my order would be with me within 2-8 working days.

One week later I received an email saying that due to the overwhelming amount of orders my order had been delayed. There was no guide given as to when my shoes would be delivered which was slightly annoying as I had bought them for an occasion so had no idea if I would have them in time! My order was finally despatched 5 days later... too late for the party!

And here they are...

Overall I love the shoes. They fit perfectly and have an adjustable buckle at the back. There is a very small platform which makes the shoes more comfortable. I think they look much more expensive than they are too. The jury is out as to whether I will order again due to the unreliable delivery service but I do love the price and the quality of the shoes.

Outfit Of The Day: Chocoholics Tea Party

For Christmas Tom and I were given a voucher to try the Champagne Chocoholic Afternoon Tea at the Hilton hotel on Park Lane. We thought it would be a nice idea to redeem it during our staycation so we got all dressed up and off we went.

I've been to this hotel a number of times before to use the Spa on a few occasions and also to go to a ball a couple of years ago but have never been to any of the restaurants. There was a huge choice of teas. I went for the Jasmine Green Tea and Tom went for the Chinese gunpowder tea.

We started off with some 'open' sandwiches

We then continued with scones, one plain and one chocolate chip each, served with Jam, clotted cream and chocolate spread. These were yummy and just the perfect size.

Then came 2 cupcakes, one chocolate orange and the other Vicky sponge topped with buttercream and fresh raspberry's.

Last came an assortment of small sweets on a plate of white chocolate

All in all I was a tad underwhelmed by the whole experience and expected perhaps more emphasis on the champagne and chocoholics part than a couple of chocolate cakes and half a glass of champagne. If you want to do a proper London tea then I would recommend splashing out on the Dorchester which is a few doors down.

Tom and I have both had pretty stressful, busy times at work in the last couple of months so we both decided to take a few days off. We were originally going to go away somewhere but then we thought why not have a little stay cation and do a few things at home!

Rimmel Exaggerate Lipliner - Eastend Snob

I have actually been using this for a while now but just never thought to include it in my monthly favourites! I basically use this as a lipstick rather than a lip liner as its one of those your-lips-but-better shades. I then generally add a bit of lipgloss on top and I'm good to go. It can be a tad drying so make sure to exfoliate and moisturise your lips before applying

Pantene Pro-V Advanced Keratin Repair Split-End Fuser

My hair has been looking a tad split end-y and dry recently so I decided to give this little wonder a go. The product claims to repair 2 years of damage in 2 minutes. If I'm honest, I think this is a little extreme but it definitely has helped and my hair is now looking a lot healthier on the ends. I'm hoping this means less hair will need to be chopped off at my impending trip to the hairdressers! One pump is all you need to smooth over the ends of wet or dry hair.

MUA Prime and Conceal Correcting Powder

I first saw one of these powders on the ELF website and thought it looked like an eyeshadow palette I had as a kid! I was slightly intrigued by it though so when I saw that MUA were doing their own version I just had to give it a go. The idea is that you swirl your brush through all of the colours and sweep it all over your face. Each colour is meant to conceal different things. Lilac is for illuminating and muting yellow undertones, green neutralises and reduces redness, yellow brightens and conceals purple tones and peach adds radiance. I have been using this for the last few weeks and so far I'm really liking it (partly because of all the pretty pastel colours!)

Ray-Ban Aviator Classic

I actually bought these in the airport on the way back from Abu Dhabi last October but haven't had the chance to wear them much for obvious reasons. Spring is in the air though and the sun has been shining a little more in London so they have finally made their debut! I truly think that the aviator shape flatters and suits just about anyone and I love the gold tones on this pair. I can't wait to sport them with a nice tan in the summer!

These days his life is just about survival and drawing attention to himself to make sure people know he still exists. He assumes that his book has been lost forever until a brown envelope appears and changes everything. This book is so cleverly written and is sort of a book within a book if that makes sense! The end is a little neat and kind of predictable but I can forgive that as its such a lovely story.
